Start at 5 hours per week, but will generally be 20 to 30 hours per week when we can organize events. The position is eligible for overtime at specific festivals and events.
The Mateel Community Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Redway, California that promotes a cultural and social view of the community with an emphasis on the performing and visual arts. It is a membership-based organization, whose members elect the nine-member board of directors. MCC operates an 800-seat venue in southern Humboldt County, featuring theater, music and a diverse portfolio of cultural and community events, and produces the internationally renowned Reggae on the River festival.
We are looking for an extraordinary person to fill the position of General Manager. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the administration and / or operations of non-profit organizations, and with the uniqueness of the southern Humboldt community. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills and background in fundraising, festivals or community organizing. We are particularly looking for someone who is committed to working to support a team based staff structure.
The General Manager will assist the Board of Directors in developing organizational policies and be responsible for their implementation, supervise staff, manage all personnel matters including appraisal of new hires, prepare operating budgets in consultation with the board and will monitor the financial performance of the organization. The CEO will be the main spokesperson for the Mateel in the community, representing the Mateel in its dealings with the public, government agencies, foundations and other non-profit organizations. The CEO will work with the Board of Directors to develop and monitor strategic planning for the Mateel.
The CEO will manage fundraising for the organization, including administration of the Summer Festival of Arts and Music and Reggae on the River. He / she will oversee potential moves from these two events to new locations, including community outreach and working with the county and other government agencies to implement the changes. He / she will also be responsible for overseeing or writing grants to fund programs and projects at Mateel, as well as developing sponsorships for various events in conjunction with the MCC Sponsorship Coordinator.
